Example One:

In this scene we see Angel about to we leveled to the ground by Jordan. But what is this! Gerald is trying to save Angel!

And what a great block! He took the punch for Angel. Of course, this could leave him quite bruised, as he quite often is after saving Angel.

In this example of heroism, we can see that Gerald is clearly trying to defend the defenseless. "Gerald glanced at the trembling Angel, heard Jordan's drunken raging above, and quickly saw what he had to do". It was this instinct inside that made a move to protect Angel, and "the blow came down on him instead".
